Melicent Whinston
 

Melicent and her husband Arthur Whinston were inducted into the WABDL Hall of Fame in Nov 2011. Melicent was inducted into the Smith College Hall of Fame in 10/2017.

Currently 91, and has Alzheimer’s. She has been living in an assisted care center since 2008 just outside Portland, Oregon.

Born 9/4/27 in Stamford, Connecticut.
Graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1949.
Played tennis, ran, skied, backpacked, and did masters track and field meets. She started weightlifting in her 60s.
Competed in years 2000-2011. She set a bunch of bench press and deadlift records. She competed in 75-79 and 80-84 age categories.
Ccompeted in weight categories 132lb, 148lb and 165lb.
Set her last world record in Worlds in Reno, Nevada in Nov 2011:
