Mike Frizzell is a retired Correctional Lieutenant from Graymont, Illinois. Mike has been competing continuously for over 25 years, and he started powerlifting in 1983. He entered his first meet competing against inmates from prison power teams in Illinois, sponsored by the APF. From ’93 to 2000, Mike competed in ADFPA/USAPL meets, with best lifts of 725 squat, 462 bench and 620 deadlift at 275 single ply. A knee injury from a fall off a ladder ended his competition squatting, and he entered his first WABDL meet in Illinois in 2005.
His first Worlds was at Anaheim, CA in 2007, and he placed 2nd in master 47-53, 220 class with a 501 bench, but his lift won best lifter. Mike has won 7 WABDL World Championships from 2012 to 2018. He has set 18 World Records in Law/Fire bench, deadlift and push/pull in 56-63, as well as master 54-60 & 61-67. From February 2014 to February 2015, Mike broke all of the Law/Fire World Records in four weight classes (220,242,259 and 275) in bench, deadlift and push/pull in the 56-63 age group, single-ply.
Mike currently holds 12 World Records in 54-60, 61-67 and 56-63 Law/Fire. Also, Mike has won 19 best lifter awards at WABDL Worlds. Mike is ranked #3 all time in the bench in 54-60, 242 with 601, and 54-60, 275 with 611. He is ranked #2 all time in the deadlift in 54-60, 275 with 650, and is #1 all time in 61-67,242 bench with 530.
